To let my life be full

I try.
God knows I try.

I rest for a moment

What have I become?
A nightmare of sleep?

Am I to blame for this?
My dreams fill my heart
With a joyous sorrow
Were I once slept long

Does this make me morbid?
Should I seek help?
I can feast without eating
And slur without drinking
Does this make me inhuman?

Should I only study one?
I know a few ways to kill
And a few ways to heal
Does this make me a doctor or murderer?
Should I forget this knowledge?
No.

What a beautiful sound they make
Those who believe in their freedom.
It’s so peaceful, do not disturb them,
They are but insanely unaware of us.
Of the warmth that is out here, waiting,
And the haunting beauty of their songs.
I’ve seen only a few and all were merely sad
Looking on us with pity and deep remorse.
They look at us like helpless young foals
